The 1st phase project of Papalanto Power Plant in Nigeria, contracted by SEPCO Ⅲ(Shandong Electric Power Construction No.3 Co.), involved 8xPG6581B simple cycle GT gensets which were all provided by Nanjing Turbine & Electric Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd.

    After several years running, all the 8 sets of GT units suffered from some faults that influenced the normal operation of power generation. Therefore, SEPCO Ⅲ entrusted Nanguang Power to carry out a comprehensive inspection and trouble-shooting of all these GT units.

    Nanjing Nangang Power Equipment Installation Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Gas Turbine Research Institute jointly undertook the task, and organized a team of 6 experts of different specialties. The team arrived at the power plant on Nov. 03, 2010. With vigorous support and assistance of SEPCOⅢ Papalanto Project Department in Nigeria, and through a whole month hard work, trouble shooting of all 8 GT units was completed on Dec. 03, 2010. During the course, 5 GT units were run at full-load, and 2 others were put into test-run at full-speed-no-load (not connected to the grid for some external reasons), while one GT unit required an overhauling before restoring power generation.

    SEPCO Ⅲ Papalanto Project Department in Nigeria was quite satisfied with the fruitful work of our site personnel, and sent a letter of gratitude by email to Nanguang Power.

    With the hard work and proper guidance of Nanguang expert team headed by Mr. Hu Biyou, the 1st phase project of trouble-shooting of 7 GT units in Papalanto Power Plant of Nigeria was basically finished. Currently, GT #1, #2, #5, #7 and #8 in the power plant can meet the requirements of simultaneous startup, and have run smoothly for over 48 hours respectively. GT #3 and #4 have passed the full-speed-no-load test-run, and have run stably for 4 hours without any alarm and abnormal situation. According to the opinions of the expert team, GT #6 is in need of an overhauling treatment, and the inspection report will be issued after the expert team returns to China.
