The fuel switch test for the No.1 turbine in the fuel renovation project undertaken by Nangang Power Engineering Co., Ltd. for the No.1 Subsidiary Plant of Gaili Power Plant of Sudan was completed smoothly, and the turbine set is running in steady fuelled with heavy coked gas oil.

In the No.1 Subsidiary Plant of Gaili Power Plant of Sudan, there¡¯re 4 PG6581 gas turbines and 2 combined cycle steam turbines, all supplied by NTC in 2002, and the recovery boiler was supplied by No.703 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.

The power plant used LDO and LPG as the combustion fuel originally, but due to price climbing for the both fuel, cost of running was increased continuously. Heavy coked gas oil, an intermediary product in refining process, can be supplied in the neighboring Khartoum Refinery Plant, and its cost is one third of LDO, so in order to improve its economical efficiency, the power plant urged to reconstruct its turbines to use the fuel.

In Jul. 2012, the fuelling renovation contract was signed, and in Dec. 2012, equipment production, procurement and departure were completed. In middle Mar. 2013, the shipment reached Sudan Port, and on Mar. 28, the actual installation was started by Nanjing Nangang Power and Equipment Co., Ltd. Through common endeavors of the field personnel and substantial support from the home front, the fuel switch test of the No.1 turbine was smoothly completed on Jul. 2, 2013, and at the moment the turbine fuelled with heavy coked gas oil is running in steady.

The project indicates the reconstruction of fuel forwarding system and turbine mainframe that is designed, made and installed by Nangang Power and Engineering Co., Ltd. is reliable.
